Giving Tuesday 2017

Once Thanksgiving has passed and the Christmas shopping has begun. After Black Friday and Cyber Monday, a new tradition has evolved. Giving Tuesday is the day we take a break from consuming and give back to non-profits that provide important services and offer a hand up to those in need. Please consider giving to Interfaith Housing Services, Inc. on Tuesday and partner with us to empower people and transform lives.

In order to encourage giving, some philanthropic foundations have added extra incentives to give this day:

  1. The Kansas Health Foundation will give us a chance to win an extra $200 every time someone donates to Interfaith Housing and shares about it on social media. Here’s how it works: Anytime between Sunday, Nov. 26 and Tuesday, Nov. 28, if you contribute to a nonprofit organization in Kansas or one benefiting Kansans, post about it on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, and make sure to use the hashtag, #KHFGivingTuesday. Each time someone uses this hashtag, the organization they gave to is entered to receive an additional $200 in KHF funding. Complete promotion/contest rules and guidlines can be found here.
  2. On #GivingTuesday, Facebook and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will be matching up to $2 million of funds raised on Facebook for US nonprofits. Facebook is also waiving its fees for donations made to nonprofits on Facebook this #GivingTuesday. Donations to nonprofits made through Facebook’s charitable giving tools on November 28th will be matched up to $50,000 per nonprofit or $1,000 per fundraiser or donate button, until the $2 million in matching funds run out. The match will begin at 8AM EST (5AM PST). Click here for details, and how you can make your gift go further.

Follow us on Facebook as we will post many opportunities to give throughout the day and share amazing stories of what our donors accomplish through their gifts. Stories like Lawson’s (Pictured above on the left,) who started out as a rental client when he first got out of prison, then with coaching through Take Control financial education, IDA saving match and hard work - he is now a proud homeowner and a productive part of our community.
