What We Do
Interfaith Housing Services operates on the premise that housing needs within a community exist on multiple levels.
People need specific support or services in order to get beyond a problem or situation and donors/grantors want to provide a service or “help,” but do not know how. As it relates to housing, IHS brings the housing needs of the community and of individuals, to the attention of the community at large and then organizes the use of time, ability, donations, and expertise, of those wanting to help or “make a difference.”
To the extent possible, IHS serves to provide housing solutions to those least likely to find housing assistance in traditional means. This includes extensive work in providing both rental housing and ownership opportunities for people and families with both physical and developmental disabilities. Service for those with disabilities is incorporated into every IHS program.
